Pete S. Ortiz

Our Lord called Pete to his eternal rest on February 3, 2024.  Pete was a beloved husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.  He is survived by his wife, Ruby with whom he lived his marital sacramental vows for 70 years; his children:  Patricia, Gary (Maria), Dina, Richard (Loretta), Peter (Roberta), and Daniel Ortiz.  He was blessed with 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.  He is survived by his brother Tony (Jenny) Ortiz; sisters:  Perlinda Reynolds, Rose Marie Romero, Nora Trujillo and Eva Roybal.  Pete was preceded in death by his parents Pete A. Ortiz and Predicanda Ortiz, granddaughter Jessica Ortiz, and brother Carlos (Diane) Ortiz.

Pete graduated from Las Vegas High School (Robertson) and New Mexico Highlands University.  He operated along with his siblings, the Ortiz Brothers Grocery Store and the Casino Bar.  He was a councilman for the City of Las Vegas, served as the Director of Housing Authority, Director of Public Works, Salesman for Highlands Ford and Caseworker for the Springer Boys School.

Pete was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish and participated in several church ministries.  He was a Eucharistic minister, lecturer, prayed numerous rosaries for folks within the community.  He participated in and facilitated the Marriage Enrichment Program and Cursillo.

  Services will be held from the Immaculate Conception Church with a rosary on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 7:00 pm.and the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.

The interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with the following serving as casket bearers:  Gabriel Ortiz, Bernie Salazar, Bryan Ortiz, Peter Michael Ortiz, Luke Ortiz, and John Ortiz.
